The History

The person at the helm of Fix-It Right Plumbing is Richard Foster. He is the architect of the company mission and the visionary behind the brand we have come to know and trust today. Richard is a highly skilled and experienced plumber himself with a particular flare and love for maintenance plumbing. He got his start in the plumbing industry over 20 years ago as a young and naïve apprentice keen to learn the ropes, acquire new skills and establish himself in the industry. Richard was eager and pleased to leave school at the age of 16 years old and start the journey into the world of becoming a qualified and registered plumber. After finishing his apprenticeship and working in a number of different areas of the plumbing trade including the construction of new homes, industrial plumbing specialising in stainless steel TIG welding and of course domestic maintenance plumbing, Richard wanted to get back to dealing directly with people and helping customers by finding and fixing their plumbing problems.
Over the years, Richard became increasingly aware that the trust had been lost between people and tradesmen, in particular plumbers. He realised that the industry as a whole had earned a less than desirable reputation for being late or simply not turning up at all, over-charging and ripping people off, being messy, and unprofessional. This inspired Richard to go out on his own in 2007 and work hard to build the company we know today with the aim of transforming the customer experience. It is this that continues to underpin our company mission:

‘To build trust with our customers by finding & fixing all of their plumbing problems’

Why Melbourne?
Melbourne is where Richard grew up and currently resides with his wife and three children. Melbourne is the first home of Fix-It Right Plumbing and currently where our headquarters are located. Our service area has grown significantly over the years and now includes all of Metropolitan Melbourne, Geelong, and the Mornington Peninsula all the way down to Sorrento. Melbourne keeps us super busy with its ever-growing and varied infrastructure from the older more established suburbs like Caulfield to the newer and rapidly expanding areas like Langwarrin and Carrum Downs. Our plumbers are also local to their service areas and have a great deal of experience and knowledge in maintenance plumbing. This means that no matter what plumbing issue our customers have, they are able to get the problem Fixed Right – First Time.
The year 2020 challenged the great city of Melbourne and its people in unimaginable ways due to the arrival of COVID-19 on our shores. With grace and gratitude Fix-It Right Plumbing and our wonderful team managed to stay the course and weather the unprecedented storm that was the Corona Virus. The team rallied, amendments to practices were made and thankfully we were able to continue on our mission to serve our loyal customers in this great city.

We also have a small but growing team of excellent plumbers representing the Fix-It Right Plumbing mission based up in Canberra. In the near future, we hope to continue to expand into different cities around Australia including Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane with the aim of challenging the status quo and raising the bar in the service industry at a national level. 

The Change

Along with our service area growing, so too has our wonderful team. With growing recognition of the brand, excellent consumer feedback and our commitment to continued improvement, our workload continues to increase. With this, the need to build and expand our great team has been crucial to our ongoing ability to meet the needs of our growing customer base. The recruitment journey prompted the Fix-It Right leadership team to realise the important cause behind our mission: ‘To make plumbers great again’. For too long now, due to trust that has been lost over the decades that precede us, there is a widely held belief that plumbers don’t turn up on time, that plumbers don’t care, that plumbers can’t be trusted and that plumbers aren’t professional. Fix-It Right Plumbing are committed to turning this around, to rebuild the trust that has been lost and make plumbers great once again. Our strong and expanding team of 16 are an elite group who take pride in their work, are accountable, contribute and strive to go above and beyond in everything that they do. These values are the foundation of what we intend to use to continue to grow our team of true professionals.

Richard’s progressive approach, innovation and ongoing commitment to the mission is what continues to drive our Fix-It Right vision forward. Standing with Richard is a very strong team of individuals, each bringing their unique skills and experience in order to deliver their best on a daily basis.
